Paul Gamber

Paul Gamber

Born in downstate Illinois, Paul Gamber grew up in the Atlanta area, son of a United Methodist clergyman. Surrounded and supported by a musical family, Paul was involved in musical endeavors from a young age, singing and touring internationally with the Atlanta Boy Choir and achieving both All-State band (trombone) and choir honors in high school.

Paul received a Bachelor of Music degree in voice from Vanderbilt University, with additional studies in composition, and a Master of Sacred Music degree in choral conducting from Emory University. He has served United Methodist, Presbyterian, and Episcopal churches in Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and California in both a part-time and full-time capacity over the years. Specializing in blend and ensemble work, Paul is known for his clear conducting, strong baritone voice, keen ear, and attention to detail.

Second only to his passion for music and worship is Paul’s love of travel. Since 2018, he has co-owned and served as principal travel advisor for G4 Getaways, a Cruise Planners franchise. In addition to serving on staff at First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View, he will be continuing to grow his travel agency upon his move to the Bay Area.

Paul’s wife Maria, an esteemed poet, is excited to begin a PhD program in Slavic Languages and Literatures at Stanford in September.  In his free time, Paul loves traveling to destinations both new and familiar, cooking, reading historical fiction, engaging in deep conversations over a good brew, attending concerts of all types, catching a baseball or football game (Go Dodgers and Rams!…sorry…), and anchoring his trivia team, the Charming Devils, who still have not decided if they will allow Paul to move to Palo Alto.

Paul very much looks forward to working with Pastor Dorr-Tilley and sharing in meaningful music, worship, discipleship, and fellowship with the congregation of FPCMV.
